Step into Parisienne and you’ve entered a world of romance.

In what formerly was a French bonbons shop, Parisienne’s decor is reminiscent of a Victorian era boudoir. The boutique displays a tremendous collection of unique fashion accessories, including beautiful shawls and scarves, bejeweled evening bags, and handcrafted jewelry – all imported from France.

Shop owner Bernadette de Haan admires the way French women dress and accessorize, and judging by the store’s popularity she has succeeded in bringing that French femininity to Amsterdam.

This is a great place to buy a special gift – whether for a birthday, Valentine’s day, Christmas, or just because… (Of course the gift doesn’t even have to be for someone else).

With so many beautiful items on display, making a choice can be difficult. However, the store’s friendly proprietress is helpful and she clearly has an eye for fashion and detail.

Besides, the colorful crystal necklaces, earrings, bracelets and broaches are surprisingly affordable. Earrings start at about €5.00; and most necklaces are in the €50 range.

Most items at Parisienne are unique, or come from a limited collection. The selection is updated several times a year.

By the way, the store is located in Amsterdam’s popular “Nine Streets” district – nine narrow streets that connect the big three canals. The “Nine Streets” are known for their specialty stores, boutiques, cafés, galleries and eateries.
