Museum Year Pass lets you visit 32 Amsterdam museums (+ more) for next to nothing
‘Museumjaarkaart’ is Dutch for ‘Museum Year Pass.’ The pass provides free entrance to Holland’s 400+ museums, which is probably why it is not marketed to tourists and other non-residents.
However, you are free to purchase and use one anyway.
That said, the Museumjaarkaart website is entirely in Dutch, and while you can order the card online, you need a Dutch bank account to do so.
It is much easier to simply purchase the pass at either
• the Amsterdams Uit Buro, or
• at one of the major museums
The Amsterdams Uit Buro is located inside the Stadsschouwburg – the municipal theater — at Leidseplein 26. When you face the building, the entrance to Uit Buro is on the right-hand side, near the terraces. [Google Map]
Yes, the place has a website, but like the one for the Museum Year Pass this one is entirely in Dutch as well.
Prices
For those 25 and older, the Museumjaarkaart costs €35. People younger than 25 pay just €17.50 The yearly pass is subject to a one-time €4.95 administration fee. [Rates last updated Nov. 2, 2009]
Note: Some museums may charge a small extra fee for special, temporary exhibitions.
