DutchAmsterdam.nl — Apple fans yesterday were offered the opportunity to be ‘delivered’ from their ‘religious devotion’ to the Apple brand.
Amsterdam-based comedy group Boom Chicago provided the outdoor exorcism at Leidseplein, just a stone’s throw from Apple’s first flagship store in the Benelux, which opened last month.
The humorous event — complete with soul- and gospel choir ‘uptight’ — was a preview for Boom Chicago’s newest show, Branded for Life, which premieres April 10 at the group’s theatre — also located at Leidseplein.
With sharp comedy and quick thinking, Boom Chicago’s new show focuses on the choices we make and why. These decisions happen not just in the store, but everywhere in our lives. Why do we love some things and mock others? When you’re talking about products, or even people, it’s all about the brand, baby. Branded For Life also shines a light on those who shape our opinions. Mad Men, marketers and spin doctors work behind the scenes to pull our strings and “engage” us.
Boom Chicago was founded in Amsterdam in 1993 by three American comedians who named the theater after their hometown. The group writes and performs sketches and improvisational comedy.
Having seen many of their shows we can highly recommend a visit.
From extensive experience we can also highly recommend the food served before the show.
