Amsterdam Mövenpick hotel receives award for environment-friendly policies — The Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre has received the Golden Green Key award in recognition of its eco-friendly policies.

This is the highest award provided by the Green Key association. Organizations awarded the Green Key fulfill technical criteria, management criteria and criteria on communication.

The Mövenpick hotel, which overlooks the IJ river behind Amsterdam Central Station, uses low-energy bulbs in its room and LED lights in its public areas.

By employing thermal energy storage the 408-room hotel uses the same amount of energy as hotels in Amsterdam with 150 fewer rooms.

Guests are welcome to help the hotel in its energy-saving methods. For instance, if you want to use the same bed linens or towels another day — rather than having them replaced every day — they can let room service know via a card.

According to Green Key Amsterdam is at the European top in sustainable hotels.
