Some 20 years ago, Bob decided he wanted a hostel. A youth hostel that is. Where young people from all over the world could sleep under the cleanest of sheets without having to pay too much.
The publisher of DutchAmsterdam — an Amsterdam native — has actually stayed at Bob’s (not, I’m afraid, out of sheer dedication to the accuracy of this website, but out of convenience. Long story…). It’s a great hostel — in a good location, sporting a friendly staff, a relaxed atmosphere, and clean sheets indeed.
Today, Bob’s Youth Hostel has 150 beds, divided into mixed dorms and one girl’s dorm. The dorms all have bathrooms and toilets, and for a 10 euro deposit you can have your own locker. The hostel is centrally located, a short walk from Dam Square, the Red Light District, museums, bars, clubs and coffee-shops.
Bob decided he would like to have a bar downstairs, with cheap beer and an area to chill-out in, socialise with other guests, play board games and surf the net.
To keep the atmosphere young and chilled, Bob takes bookings for 18-30 year olds and no groups bigger than eight people, so please keep this in mind when you make your booking.
