Amsterdam girls on bikes — in slow motion

DutchAmsterdam.nl — In Amsterdam bicycling is seen primarily as the best way to get from point A to point B in a 730+ years old city that was not designed for heavy traffic.

Bicycling in Amsterdam as seen through the eyes of a tourist. Filmed by Zozdominator.

When Amsterdammers are not walking they’re cycling:

To work
To school
To the market
To the grocery store
To the bakery
To the pub
To a park
To the butchers
To the flower stand
To another pub
To a friend’s house
To [fill in the blank]

Yes, we could take public transport but that’s an alternative you take only if you really have to. It’s both slow and expensive, though quite welcome when the weather goes pear-shaped or you’re simply too tired or too lazy to bike far.

Anyway, we’ve noticed — certainly not for the first time — that tourists also view biking as, well, a tourist attraction. Even if they don’t dare try riding a bike themselves, they do enjoy watching the scenery. And who can fault them for that?
