Amsterdam Post Office

The main post office in Amsterdam is downtown (that’s the city centre for our British readers), at Singel 250.

It’s a 5-8 minute walk from Dam Square.

The post office is busy but well-organized. However, you may prefer to buy your stamps elsewhere. Tobacconists, news agents and most supermarkets sell stamps.

In supermarkets look for the courtesy desk.

Usually you will have to buy a small booklet of stamps. Single stamps are normally sold with post cards bought at the same store.

Opening Times

Main post office:

Monday – Saturday: 7:30 – 18:30 (7:30 AM – 6:30 PM)

Other Post Offices

Many tobacconists include full-service post office franchises. To find one, simply ask a local.

Stamped letters can also be mailed in any of the bright orange TNT mail boxes. For mail destined outside Amsterdam, use the slot marked, “Overige Postcodes” (Other Postal Codes).
