Jimmy Woo

Jimmy Woo is a much-hyped, relatively new club located in the heart of Amsterdam’s nightlife hotspot, the Leidseplein.

It has seen its share of celebrity guests, including Britney Spears and George Clooney.

However, if you’re not an A-list celebrity you may want to know that Jimmy Woo’s highly selective door policy is the topic of many complaints. You’re either on the guest list or you spend lots (or all) of your time waiting outside for the doorwoman (referred to on several review sites as the ‘attractive door bitch’) to decide that you can enter.

Once inside you’ll enjoy the club’s Oriental theme with lots of black and gold furnishings and decorations.

Jimmy Woo is a fictional character, presented as a Chinese Triad tycoon. The club is what his home would look like: Black-lacquered walls, Japanese temple lamps and a 100+ years old Chinese opium bed set the tone.

If you’re not invited you can still see the place by taking a virtual walk-through on the Jimmy Woo website, which is mostly in Dutch.

A ‘flyer’ at the same site shows the current agenda.

The club’s downstairs dancefloor gets the most kudos.

The immediate area is home to many night clubs.
