Readers of Out Traveller select Amsterdam as Favorite International Destination

Readers of Out Traveler, an American magazine for homosexuals, have selected Amsterdam as their favorite international destination.

Barcelona and London take second and third place respectively.

A proposed ban on munching magic mushrooms might stop Amsterdam’s psychedelic swirl of rainbows, but aside from some pointed press about conservatives’ narrowing policies toward immigration and religion (i.e., Muslims), the Netherlands still maintains an inclusive love affair with all flavors of minorities, sexual or otherwise.

Meanwhile, a new Museum of Bags and Purses — the world’s first — ups the city’s already fashionable and cutting-edge ante.

Anton and Janet Hein live and work in Amsterdam. We are the publishers of DutchAmsterdam.

Anton was born on a houseboat in the center of Amsterdam, right across from the iconic Westertoren and what later became the Anne Frank House museum. Having lived in nearly every district since then, he knows the city like his own back pocket.

Janet was born in England and raised in Ireland before moving to Amsterdam 42 years ago. Even to date she brings an expat’s perspective to the DutchAmsterdam website.
