A photo shoot in the Central Hall of Amsterdam’s Central Station will mark the start of the downtown program organized for the 10th edition of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week.
Between 12 noon and 2pm there will be a ‘model hunt’ at track 2A — where officials will choose from among pre-selected candidates.
The station’s central passenger tunnel will sport a photo exhibition covering the 10 editions of the AIFW.
The Amsterdam International Fashion Week runs from January 24 through February 1.
The downtown schedule includes some 80 activities, ranging from exhibitions to fashion shows and a shop window competition.
The program is less ambitious than in previous years. Not only is this the first year that AIFW is not subsidized by the City of Amsterdam — but main sponsor Fortis bank has not faired well in the past half year.
Nevertheless a large group of Dutch fashion designers are taking part, including fashion week newcomers Addy van den Krommenacker, Swart and Michael Barnaart van Bergen.
The main program takes place at the Westergasfabriek.
