Anne Frank House – one of Amsterdam’s top 3 museums

Reopening on June 1, 2020! The Anne Frank House is the third most popular museum in Amsterdam — after the van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum.

The popularity of the small museum made it necessary to introduce a new, online tickets only system, complete with timed entry slots.

While it can be quite a challenge to secure tickets online, there are benefits as well. Earlier, waiting times in the line to the box office easily topped 2+ hours.

Hollandsche Schouwburg — War Memorial

Amsterdam Hollandsche Schouwburg war memorial Built 1892, the Hollandsche Schouwburg (Dutch Theatre) long was a house of culture and entertainment.

But during the Second World War the German occupiers turned the building into a place of grief and sorrow.

It is now a war memorial in remembrance of the Jews who were deported from here.

Rembrandthuis – Rembrandt House Museum

Rembrandt Painter Rembrandt van Rijn bought what is now the ‘Rembrandt house’ museum in 1639 — just prior to being commissioned to paint The Night Watch.

A visit to the restored 17th-century house is like stepping into one of Rembrandt’s paintings.
