Amsterdam taxi firm TCA loses legal appeal against loss of Schiphol airport concession

TCA Taxi Amsterdam A preliminary injunction court in Haarlem has determined that the European Procument procedure for taxi concessions at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has been performed correctly.

TCA director Bas Vos had claimed that Schiphol’s decision was payback for the controversial management style of the company’s former directors, who were charged with running a criminal organization, fraud and encouraging violence.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Starting June 1, 2009, taxi drivers affiliated with Amsterdam taxi service TCA will no longer be able to transport passengers from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. For the next five years, that right goes to the taxi services of three other cab companies as selected by the airport.

TCA drivers are livid, and TCA — which has provided Schiphol’s taxi services for the past 30 years — is going to court to fight the decision.

Amsterdam to get electric cabs

Amsterdam cab Tourists and locals alike will soon be able to ride a fleet of almost traditional English black cabs throughout Amsterdam.

Cab operator Taxi Centrale Amsterdam plans to have 20 of the electric cabs in service in Amsterdam before the summer, and fifty in total by the end of the year, says TCA director Bas Vos.
