On 19 and 20 August 2006, Zeedijk once again celebrates the traditional ‘Hartjesdagen’. This originally medieval national holiday has recently developed into an Amsterdam carnival that draws thousands of visitors each year. An exuberant street gathering that turns the entire Zeedijk upside down and where the men become women and vice versa.
